Our Support Groups

You don’t have to face things alone

We get it – the thought of opening up to a professional can be an overwhelming step to take, so why would you want to share your worries and fears with a group of strangers?

The answer is simple – we’re all in this together!

Although our problems might not always be the same shape or size, we all know what it’s like to experience feelings of anxiety, depression and fear – whether it’s regarding our own mental wellbeing or the wellbeing of those we love and care for.

Support groups are an excellent way to meet, listen to and discuss with others the anguish you or your loved ones are experiencing in an open, honest and supportive environment.

Loneliness can be the greatest ally to a mind that is struggling, but by opening up to those who understand and share in your worries and fears, you might just conquer both.

Support groups for men

In Scotland alone, over a third of men have experienced suicidal thoughts as a result of feeling stressed. And unfortunately, many feel too embarrassed to reach out for help.

That’s why we host a men’s group each month on a Wednesday in our Inverness Hive. These meetings are led by local men to support local men – fighting the stigma surrounding male mental health and providing a safe space to share your burdens and meet others who understand how you’re feeling.

Meetings will be held every 1st Wednesday of the month throughout 2023, 6.30pm-7.30pm.

Support groups within the school community

Here at Mikeysline we work with a number of local primary and secondary schools to support staff, parents and carers who want advice on how to support children and young people through these formative years of their life.

We’ll cover topics such as:

  • Self-esteem
  • Anxiety and social anxiety
  • Coping strategies
  • Panic attacks.

We’re also happy to arrange sessions online.
